A much-loved café in Ohori Terrace serving Yame green tea, onigiri rice balls and simple Kyushu home-style food.
&LOCALS is on the ground floor of Ohori Terrace, beside the Japanese Garden. Its theme is the food culture of Kyushu: tea from Yame in southern Fukuoka, one of Japan's most prized green tea regions, sweets made with it, and simple meals built around local ingredients, such as onigiri rice balls. The shop also sells tea and Kyushu products to take home.
With big windows facing the park, it is a calm spot for breakfast or a tea break — and, true to its name, a favourite with people who live in Fukuoka.
