A traditional strolling garden opened in 1984 at the southern end of the park — a quiet world of water, stone and pines just steps from the busy lakeside path.

Opened in 1984, the Japanese Garden is a walled garden made for strolling: a path winds around its pond and past stone arrangements and carefully shaped trees, opening up a new view at every turn. It is especially lovely in the fresh green of spring and during the autumn leaves.

The garden also has a tea house and a tea ceremony hall that can be reserved for tea gatherings. There are two entrances: one on the Fukuoka Art Museum side and one on the Ohori Terrace side.
