The service
Japan Explained provides multilingual guides for shrines, temples, restaurants, shops and other places, accessible by QR code, and a service for businesses to create and manage those guides.
Using the guides
Guides are provided for general information and cultural interest. We aim for accuracy, but details such as opening hours, prices and events can change, and translations are produced with automated help; please confirm important details with the place itself.
For businesses that list a place

- Licence: you grant us the right to host, display, adapt and translate your content into the supported languages for the purpose of providing the service.
- Pricing & payment: fees are shown on our Pricing page and are payable as agreed at the time of purchase.
- Accounts: keep your account details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
- Content standards: we may edit or remove content that is unlawful, misleading, or inappropriate, or that infringes others' rights.
