Known for the legend that the chief priest of Nanzo-in repeatedly won large lottery prizes, the "Shussei Daikoku-ten" has become a famous spot for prayers seeking lottery luck.

The head priest of Nanzoin Temple kept an amulet of Daikokuten wrapped around a lottery ticket, and according to a famous anecdote, in June 1995—the month following the completion of the Nirvana statue—he won 130 million yen combined from the first prize and consolation prizes of the Jumbo Lottery, and then won another 5.6 million yen in a number lottery just ten days later. This "Success Daikokuten" has become Nanzoin Temple's most celebrated power spot, now drawing visitors from across the nation who come to pray for lottery luck, hoping to share in such remarkable fortune.
