Located within the merchandise section of the Hakata Machiya Furusato-kan, "hakatakara" is an antenna shop dedicated to showcasing Hakata's traditional crafts and food culture. The shop displays an array of Hakata's signature handicrafts, including Hakata weaving, Hakata dolls, Hakata papier-mâché, Hakata bentwood containers, and Hakata spinning tops, alongside stationery brands from Fukuoka and regional folk toys.
The food selection features exclusive items found nowhere else, such as "Kofuku Mochi" (small rice cakes in three varieties—mugwort, yuzu pepper, and a unique version wrapping the essence of Hakata's famous udon broth) created under the supervision of the long-established Japanese confectionery shop "Ochaocha Manjū Honpo Fuki," as well as "Niwa-ka Mochi Ice Cream," shaped after masks from "Hakata Niwa-ka," a traditional Hakata performing art.
This is a distinctive spot where the essence of Hakata can be experienced through the seamless blend of tradition and contemporary culture.
